Schalke could be forced to lose their talented central defender to the super rich Zenit St Petersburg. The Russian club have proposed a €13m fee for Kyriakos Papadopoulos’ signature, in the current transfer window.

The club official revealed that Zenit have admitted their pursuit of the Greek international and are very interested in signing the youngster before the window closes.
“Zenit have contacted me," exclaimed Schalke general manager Horst Heldt.
The general manager suggested that the Russian club have lodged an official request for the 20-year-old, but the exact amount remains uncertain and is not guaranteed to be a figure of €13 million.
"There is an offer, but whether it amounts to €13 million I cannot confirm," he was quoted as saying in an interview.

The Miners are not in a bargaining position regarding the destination of the player but will try to retain their crucial defender, although the Russian club is more than willing to sign him. Schalke have stressed that they do not
want to lose Kyriakos and are hoping to improve on their previous season with him in the team.
"It's true, that they are interested and have made an offer. We don't want to let go of the player, but they are rather determined. So are we, though," Heldt finally concluded.
Papadopoulos has made 47 appearances for the German club in his two years at the club. He signed for Schalke in the summer of 2010 on a four year contract.
