The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international was the top goalscorer in the Bundesliga last campaign and will be a free agent next summer after his contract with Schalke ends in a year’s time.
Schalke general manager Horst Heldt has announced that he will be very patient with the former Real Madrid forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-c21175, and will give him ample amount of time in finalising a contract extension.
The 28-year-old, who netted 29 goals last season, is in the final year of his contract and has been consistently linked with a move away to the English Premier League and La Liga in the past.
The striker recently admitted that there was a very little chance that he will depart the Die Knappen outfit and Heldt will not dash the attacker to make an imminent decision over the signing of a new contract.
The manager suggested that he will have detailed discussions with the player about the subject matter in the near future and revealed that the Dutchman feels well settled at Gelsenkirchen outfit, but will be given extended time
to mull over his future.
"We will meet again soon and then talk more specifically about the contents of contracts. It is clear that Klaas-Jan feels comfortable here, but if he still needs time to make his decision, then we will give him that time,”  he
was quoted as saying in an interview.
FC Schalke have made two major signings in the transfer market, Roman Neustadter and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tranquillo-Barnetta-c35516, and Heldt confirmed that the side will remain within their budget and refrain from being extravagant in signing players.
He claimed that this will aid in stabilising the club in the long term.
"It is our responsibility to set the club up so that it's also doing well in 10 years' time," he stated.
The 42-year-old conceded that Schalke are always trying to improve as a football club and he told that Jefferson Farfan has agreed to stay at the club by committing his long term future with the third-ranked team of Bundesliga
last season.
"However, we are constantly striving to better establish ourselves. That process has already begun with the contract extension for Jefferson Farfan. After Jeff seemed to be almost gone, now he is like a new signing for us," he
concluded.
Huntelaar’s future remains in doubt until the transfer window is open and all is dependent upon the leading man of Schalke.
