The Schalke sporting director insisted that the team wanted to experiment with some new players in the attacking position.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues downed Thomas Schaaf’s side by a 3-2 margin at the Weserstadion as Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored a brace to become Bundesliga’s highest goalscorer this season. The Gelsenkirchen based outfit secured a third place finish
in this campaign to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
Schalke striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Gonzalez had revealed earlier this month that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season. The attacker played his last game at Veltins Arena last week as the home fans bid farewell to the former Real
Madrid man.
Heldt defender his side’s decision to start Raul on the bench in the game against Bremen in what would have been the player’s last match for the club. He insisted that the manager wanted to play Jose http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Jurado in the position
of the second striker to experiment for the future games.
The chief claimed that Die Knappen  have a few options in that position and wanted to see if any of the player would fit in where Raul has played throughout his career at the club.
“We spoke to him before the game about it and it was not a problem for Raul. The coach opted to play Jurado behind the main strikers to try out a different player in that position, as that is how it will be next season. We will
see in the coming weeks who the candidates are to fill the position behind http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-c21175 in future,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Heldt also revealed that the club will be active in this year’s summer transfer window in order to develop a team that is capable of challenging at the European level.
“Now that we know where we are in terms of our final league position we will intensify our squad preparations for next season, including who we want to buy, and who we will release,” he concluded.
Schalke ended that season in third place behind Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
