The Schalke sporting director has expressed his disappointment on the weekend’s home loss to Bayern Munich.
Schalke general manager Horst Heldt stated that he was not pleased with his side’s first loss of the Bundesliga campaign against Bayern Munich on Saturday. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues were defeated 2-0 at the Veltins Arena over the weekend
and the director of sport discussed the match and the reasons for the team’s failure to make an impact in the game.
The Miners took on the most successful team in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 in their league encounter at their home ground and the outcome was not what they hoped for. The club official suggested that they gained momentum near the half-hour mark and
got the support of the fans, but a short impressive stint was not enough to beat the Bavarian giants.
“Towards the end of the first half we played the way you have to. We got the crowd on our side. But one good spell in a game is not enough to beat Bayern,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The chief conceded that they were not brave enough, both attacking and defensive wise. Bayern did not allow them too many chances at goal, and they were only exposed once and twice, but the Veltins-Arena outfit was unable to avail
the rare opportunity. Der FCB managed to make chances out of nothing and scored twice.
“We weren't courageous enough, both in defence and in attack. You don't get many opportunities against Bayern. At the other end they're capable of scoring goals from nothing,” he mused.
“Even though Bayern were very good, we need an even better performance to get three points against Mainz, but I'm convinced we'll see a different Schalke this time,” he finally concluded.
Heldt maintained that Die Roten played superbly, but said that they have to perform better than this to secure a victory against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 05. He confirmed that in the next game Schalke will show a stronger side and will impress
the fans. Die Knappen came 3rd last season and won their UEFA Champions League opener 2-1 against Olympiakos.
