Helen Alfredsson is the Evian Masters Ambassador 2012
At a grand ceremony on Saturday, the 29th of July, Helen Alfredsson was named the Evian Masters Ambassador for the year 2012.
The event is held every year and a prominent golfer is given the honour of representing the prestigious event. The ambassador becomes the face of the event and plays a crucial part in media relations.
This year’s choice, Helen Alfredsson, was unique. She has a long time association with the tournament and is often present at the venue.
She has the distinction of being the first winner of the event, back in 1994 when it was a small event on the LET schedule.
The venue of the ceremony was the Gala Dinner at the Royal Palace. This is another long running tradition of the Evian Masters. A number of prominent guests and selected players are invited to the Dinner. The red carpet affair is considered to be the highlight
of the Evian Week.
This time, Helen Alfredsson was a special guest of the event. Her past association with the tournament was also highlighted by the fact that she has won the event three times. In addition to the win in the inaugural year, Helen Alfredsson also won the event
in 1998.
Her win in the 2008 edition of the event was considered to be among the top performances ever in the history of the Evian Masters. The ceremony was tasteful and elegant with major golf personalities sharing table with the officials and management of the
golf course.
A tearful Alfredsson accepted the honour and the token Rolex watch. Many said afterwards that Helen Alfredsson was the perfect person for the job.
She has the personality and flare required of a tournament ambassador. She is an accomplished golfer as well with a long time association with LET and LET events.
This is not the first time Helen Alfredsson was appointed the ambassador for the Evian Masters. She was also granted the honour in 2008. That year was a major milestone in her career as she won Evian Masters for the third time.
Helen Alfredsson will attend all the media events related to the Evian Masters.
