Helen Wyman wins the Bank Trofee – Koppenbergcross, Elite Women category
Helen Wyman of Team Kona Factory continuous her tremendous run of form and bagged an important victory at the bpost Bank Trofee - Koppenbergcross 2012, Elite Women Category.
She took a total time of 37 minutes and 30 seconds and occupied the top podium position restricting her major opponents.
"Two years ago it was my first big win. It's never going to feel like the first time again although it remains a very special race with lots of people," Wyman said.
"I had maybe ten metres but then on the descent she made a mistake. I didn't look back and rode as fast as I could to the finish," she concluded.
Nikki Harris of Team Young Telenet-Fidea Cycling finished at almost the same time but had to settle for the second position.
“I’ll have to try again next year as I really want that cobble in my living room," she said.
"I felt comfortable on the technical sections but I crashed in the middle section of the descent. She had two bike lengths and though I managed to return I had nothing left for the sprint".
Sanne Cant of Team Veldritacademie Enertherm – BKCP finished 34 seconds behind at the third position with Sophie de Boer of Team Young Telenet-Fidea and Hanka Kupfernagel of Team RusVelo claiming the fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
