is it possible to get a used small safe working helicopter for $5000-$30000? i would prefer one with a cab. also what are the rules when in comes to flying a helicopter in ohio? i dont think i could fly it to the store or anything, could i? and what are the terms i need to use when i am looking for a helicopter, what are the terms for a small cheap helicopter?

$30K is a pretty low limit. I've seen some small piston engined helicopters for 30 or 40, but those are pretty rare and might be due for maintenance or inspection. If you're looking for something recreational, you might look around for a light sport helicopter or an ultralight. These could be actual helicopters or gyrocopters as well. $50,000 is likely to be the lowest cost you'll find on a helicopter unless you want to build your own. You can find kits for fairly low cost if you're willing to spend some time taking classes and building it yourself. As far as regulations, you'll need a private pilot's liscence to fly anything over a certain weight and the FAA has very strict limitations on where you can fly. For full sized helis, you'll be restricted to airports or uncontrolled airspace in rural areas. Even for ultralights, there are a lot of limitations, so flying to the store is out of the question. A small helicopter might be a great thing to have if you live in a rural area and might want to traavel between towns quickly but you'll still need faacilities wher you're going. If you get an ultralight helicopter, you don't necessarily have to have a liscence, but you'll likely end up in a hospital or worse if you don't seek out an experienced instructor for some training first.
