I went to see a psychiatrist, but have to wait almost a month to see him again. I was at college today, I stayed after class to throw a few questions at the teacher. I noticed there was two other students in the class, a woman that I know from my class, and some weird looking guy from the corner of my eye, another fitness student, who isn't in my class was sitting on a table at the front of the class while I was asking the teacher some questions, I'm guessing he was waiting to speak to him like that other student. Anyway, when I left I noticed some irritation in my left eye, I'm worried that weird looking guy shot something in my eye.. something ultra-fine so I wouldn't have been like "ow!" straight away.. I know it sounds crazy, but I need some honest thoughts from rational people, this thing is killing me now. I went back to the class to maybe see him and check out his character (and his hands) but he was gone. It is 11pm the same day, and I'm still worried.. thankful for any help..

  1. If at all possible, it might help to make an appointment with your psychiatrist as soon as you can.  They're pretty good at squeezing people in who need urgent attention.  I'm not saying your crazy, but this worry is not rational...maybe you're over-stressed right now.  I don't know if it's your OCD or something else, but I don't think the guy could have squirted something into your eye.  You were probably uncomfortable about the guy being in your class since you didn't know him.  Maybe subconciously you created him into a "bad guy" without even realizing it.  Maybe an eyelash or some dust got into your eye and is irritating it.  Try not to dwell on it too much and call the doctor in the morning.  It wouldn't hurt to run this whole scenario by him/her.

  2. You may have irritated your eye by staring at him out of the corner of your eye too hard. Yes, it could cause eye strain. Not sure what this has to do with OCD though unless your "OCD" is you think everyone is plotting against you. If thats the case you need to relax and take it easy.

No one's aim could be that good to shoot a very small (possibly microscopic) object from that much distance away. Even in the event that this would be possible, you would definitely feel it right away.

  3. I'm guessing the irritation is completely unrelated to this other person.  If it is bothering you, go see a doctor at a walk-in clinic or some such thing.  This was just a random person and your OCD is kicking into overdrive.

  4. OCD or paranoia?  If you are obcessing about about the guy shooting something in your eye, I don't guess you've figured out how to break that behavior pattern for yourself.  Did your psychiatrist give you a script for anti-anxiety meds?  If so, take them and try to rest.

As for being worried- you can see, right?  At least well enough to type.  So I bet your eyes are fine.  If you're still worried, go to your university health office to get your eyes checked.  After sitting around for a few hours, you might decide it was nothing after all!
