I have a new tv with no audio outputs, it does have a digital audio output which is a single wire (coaxial I guess) output.

I purchased a surround system that has no input for the tv coaxial cable. It does (the surround sys) have a dvd coaxial

audo input which does not work with the tv output (seems like it should though), is there any way (adapter or such) to get these two systems working together?

Thanks in advance.

  1. what "new" tv comes with no audio outputs????

coaxial is coaxial regardless of whether it says 'dvd' or 'tv'...have you tried running a coax cable from the tv output to the surround sounds 'dvd coaxial' then selected 'dvd' mode on your surround sound system?

I am suprised your tv has no audio outputs except a digital audio out...are you sure it is not for headphones? ie a 1.5mm plug?   If so you can buy a cable which has a 1.5mm plug on one end & 2 rca plugs on the other (red & white) then run this into your surround sound systems analog audio inputs (again colour coded red & white)

  2. The problem is the the coax out on the tv only works if you have a cable card installed.
