Hello, may I know what are the substitutes for meat tenderizer in the extraction of DNA?

meat tenderizer is a protease; an enzyme which breaks down proteins. This is needed to get the DNA separated from proteins such as histones which DNA coils around.

If you mean you are using the meat tenderizer to break the cells... When I extracted DNA for a class we put fruit in a zip-lock bag and squished it around with our hands.
