  1. The First Geneva Convention, signed in 1864, was the first treaty of international humanitarian law. In 1899 in the Hague it was signed the next convention, applying the Geneva convention to war action at sea.

And in 1907 The Hague Convention determined combatants' categories. In 1929 these conventions were developed further and expanded one more time. In 1949 during the international conference it was adopted Geneva convention "Civil persons' protection during the war-time" as well transcribed three previous adapted conventions and submitted their texts. The Geneva convention from 1949 and additional Protocols in toto nearly 600 paragraphs is law achievement with a historical importance.

The Japanese had not signed until after ww2

  2. Around the same time the RA stopped murdering civilians.

  3. 3001

  4. 'where it's soldiers would be court marshalled.'

in aldershot garrison, where the courts marshal centre is.

The first part of the question I gather you already know the answer so why ask it?

  5. Never .

    Officially? What´s that?

  6. "Atrocity" started as a death metal band, and their debut was the Blue Blood EP in 1989 followed by a concept album about drug use named Hallucinations. Their second album Todessehnsucht ventured into death metal, featuring a cover of "Arch Angel" by the band Death. Their musical scope broadened during the years, and the band even discovered medieval and horror influences on their Dracula based concept album Atrocity's Blut, named after the successful motion picture Bram Stoker's Dracula. It was released in 1994, and was followed by Calling The Rain mcd with included guest female vocals and acoustic themes

  7. If you are talking armies like those of Conan the Barbarian then torture has been used. If you are talking about the Armies of the Inquisition then torture has been used but from your position of extreme naivety, no modern British Army (say from 1066) has used torture as a particular weapon of war. Neither have any other modern European army used torture as a means of waging war. Perhaps torture takes place in the comics that you read but in the real world torture is never sanctioned

  8. In 1864 the First Geneva Convention laid the foundation for the banning of attrocities on POW. It is immaterial whether the UK or USA have or have not signed the documents because up to date they are still committing attrocities on POW or civilians alike. To be quite fair, all the other countries are doing the same.

Hehehe, bet you guys must have thought I was an anti-american or anti-brit or at worse a commie or islamic-lover or McCain supporter.
