  1. Well MTV gets its money from the commercials that they run, not from the cable or satellite company. These companies obviously use your money to pay the technicians, phone support people, and equipment. Anyway the reason MTV is delivered into homes via cable and not over-the-air is the limited amount of space available when using analog transmission. Now that they will use the much more efficient digital transmission they will offer you more channels, but only the networks that you currently receive, not they paid stations.

I hope this makes better sense.

  2. I wouldn't know, but a friend of mine has a DTV Converter Box and from what I've seen on his TV, he has the same local channels, but he has digital channels, which are the same channels as local channels, but better picture and sound quality.

  3. no u will be able to see the basic channels clearly mtv is a cable channel ...

  4. No, you will get local channels. That's where MTV gets its money, from paying cable customers.

  5. No, the only thing the converter does is allow yo to watch the digital OTA signal on your analog TV. You may get a few new channels that were only broadcasting in digital but they are all local. You will also get the sub channels. For example lets say channel 2 is NBC. That will be the standard definition channel. With the converter you will also get 2.1 (HD channel) and 2.2 (24hr news and weather). Some stations have 4 or 5 of these channels (26.1, 26.2, 26.3, 26.4, 26.5).

The examples above are from the Orlando, FL market.
