  1. Log on to Craigslist and look up groups that hold meetings/outings(usually free of charge) with singles in your area...your bound to find something that interests you....

  2. Happy Birthday!  Don't be depressed.  Your 40's are really great years.  Go to a bar and mention out loud that it's your birthday--people will start buying you drinks.  You can tell them that you had no one else to celebrate with and had been kind of blue; most like they'll sympathize with your and make you feel better.  Or you could spend your birthday helping the less fortunate then you--helping serve meals, etc.  I love spending my birthday alone because it gives me time to reflect on the past year, on what I want for my future, on how I'm feeling about myself and the world.  I focus on the good things like the way the clouds move across the sky if there's nothing else I can think of.  It's my day and I indulge myself (because no one else can like I can).  I let myself sleep late, I take the day off from work, I go for a long walk and reaffirm how good being alive is, I allow myself to eat what I want within reason.  I am special to myself and I celebrate me on my birthday.  Nothing to get depressed about.

  3. Well that's certainly no way to ring in your 40's, is it?!?

Try not to fret too much over turning 40 & attempt to focus on the positives of getting older. For me I notice that my 'earthly desires' have become much simpler & therefore less stress inducing, I feel more confident in my abilities to handle life now, I'm wiser, & I care less & less every decade what other's opinions are of my life, thoughts, choices, actions, fashion sense, etc, etc, while at the same time I've become much more open & forthcoming with my own opinions, & I've learned how to do that with tact & heart.

All of that is very freeing, & hard to feel depressed about.

Also, it helps to reiterate to yourself that there is not a thing you can do to stop aging, everyone's doing it. You may as well make the best of it.

'Depression' about it is in your control.

One of my favorite quotes to live by is:

"Change the way you look at things & the things you look at change."

Maybe that will help you, too.

Get out there......find *something* to do to create community for yourself. Many of your options to do this are free!!

    !!!HAPPY Birthday!!!

  4. Go to the park and watch the ducks or just watch the water that's what i do when i am feeling blue. It's peaceful and relaxing.

  5. I don't know your circumstances but if it was me I would go to the local "mom and pop" type coffee shop and make some new friends.  Or go somewhere new like a museum you haven't seen, or you could sit under a tree somewhere out of the sun and count the blessings you have been given,.  You made it to forty,.  A lot of people have not and never will.  But I'd make you a cake if I could!

  6. oh, that's nothin...I turn 112 in September...you're a fledgling.

(feel any better? hope so...happy birthday!!!!)

  7. Why don't you get your old fishing gear and spend it camping or fishing.  It will give you time to think and enjoy a simple thing in life.  Or, why don't you head to a bar if drinking is your thing and just chill out with the guys watching a game.  Hope your birthday turns out well for you.  Life is too short to get down about things.  Just enjoy it and try to meet people who have your best interests in mind.  Good luck.

  8. Borrow $20 from a friend. Go to a local bar (one you can walk home from) sit at the bar. Order a drink. Someone 'will' come over to you, sip on your drink (to make it last..lol) when they come to you, ask them how their night is going. They will reciprocate. Tell them it's your bday and you're a bit sad.....smile of course....they'll buy you a drink. Thank them.....ask what they do...blah blah blah If they walk away..oh well thanks for the drink! Then wait for the next sucker.....lol You can always have fun on your bday with no or little money. If you can't borrow any money and don't want to go out and do this, then go through your DVD's pick one or two you want to watch. Take a long hot bubble bath.....slip into something comfortable.......and watch your favorite movies. (that's if you're a woman) For a man, let's see....lol You can hang out with your friends, surely they'll know it's your bday and they'll be prepared. Hang out at their house, drink beer and play poker all night! Win Win right?

  9. if your alone turn to crist ,if your depressed turn to crist, he,ll  even help with your money ,i just turned 41 and i am so happy, ive been saved for about 8 years now, tomorrow  is sunday go to a local church, not  no big catholic just but the local church youll find him there

  10. I'll be thinking of you on your birthday and if I had your mailing address I would send you a card I make.

I'm alone everyday and am homebound with MS so know  you are lucky there.

  11. Go to the church. It's free & you will have the company of the people who work there and the lord.  If you have close family or friends, you can maybe hang out at a park and have a good time with each other's company.

    Happy Birthday

    Hope everything goes well =]
