Hello- I haven't ever hardly

Question

Hello-
I haven't ever hardly used my desk jet and am trying to hook it back up in my new home. It will copy items-but I do not know how to get it to print from laptop, and i'd like to know how to use the scanner. As far as I know- all the software is still on my pc, and all cords are in appropriate places. I don't know what the deal is. Please help if you can.
