Hello Im a high school Jv defensive end and i would like to begin powerlifting....?

I'd like to compete and was wondering if it would help me be faster explsive and stronger????????

  1. When I was in high-school I started lifting for football hardcore when I was a Sophmore.  Before I knew it I was participating in the State Power lifting meet.  I never even had that in mind when I started.  From my experience the most important lifts are the core lifts like: Squats, dead lift, hang Cleans, clean and press.  Sure bench press is important but 90 percent of your explosion when playing on the d-line is coming from your legs and your core.  Do those religiously 3 days a week, and you'll be a monster before you know it.


  2. Power lifting is mainly for strength for explosion try plyometrics

  3. Probably make you slower and make you a defensive tackle.  Use olympic lifts and that will make you more explosive and stronger.
