  1. Wean him off daytime booby.  Instead of a boob when he wants something, offer snacks and a bottle/sippy cup  of milk (homogenized).  Just be consistent and tell him that he's a big boy now and big boys don't drink booby during the day time.  Give him the boob at night if you still do and then start to wean him off one feeding at a time (one once every week or so).  He'll cry when he wakes up but if you sing to him and cuddle him and rock him, he'll fall asleep.

  2. Lol no advice really but just wanted to let you know I am in the exact same situation - I have a 19 month old son who won't give up breastfeeding!!!  I've been ill this week and all he's wanted to do is breastfeed, its exhausting me and he's not eating enough solid food so I worry about his nutritional intake.

Can you try to distract him from a feed by offering him something he likes?  My son has these vanilla biscuits which he loves and when he wants a feed one of those will usually distract him - or I take him out in the pushchair for a walk etc . . .

  3. Start offering a cup of milk, juice or water.  He will try to grab your b*****s, but be firm, say "no, not now" and give him the cup again.  He'll soon get the message.

  4. Hi... I agree with Stacie. At the same time, to discourage him from nursing when he should be drinking from a cup, you could try these two things:

    1. Rub something distasteful on your nipples when he asks for the breast. Eg, salt or something bitter. When he asks to be nursed, let him. He will be taken aback by the taste. Keep repeating until he stops totally.

    2. Rub some red lipstick around your nipples and tell him that you are in pain. Some kids do pity their mums...

The thing about stopping all of sudden is that your b*****s may end up engorged. So use your discretion. Good luck!

  5. hes old enough to walk and still on your b*****s!???  Just stop cold turkey.

  6. Start reducing the number of times he nurses during the day until you can cut it down to only nursing before bed.  Give him a sippy cup during meals, and at other times he wants to nurse or is thirsty, until eventually he will be weaned off the breast.  It's hard, but he'll be okay.  Good luck!
