In the area where the water sat there is a huge lump on the table. Is there anyway to reduce that lump without ruining the table. The lump is not fully dry yet. Please offer any suggestions you may have.

Thank you.

  1. Attach a section of sand paper tothe cat and rub it over the lump.

Shoudl teach it to stay off the table.

Actually the large lump can be excised much like a blister. With an exacto knife (thin razor) slice along the grain of the wood. ! -2 slices. Apply gently pressure down (like a small book, over a long period of time to gradually reduce the blister. Squirt some glue under it when you are ready to seal  the bump back down to the table.

  2. The moisture from the water is causing the lump.   Take a hair drier and try to dry the spot.   The lump should reduce in size.   It may take a few days to totally dry out and hopefully the lump will be gone once it is dry.   If it is not them you may need to sand the spot down with an orbital sander and then coat the whole surface with a polyurethane product.   This way if water gets spilt on the surface again you won't have this problem again.   With the polyurethane on the surface the water will not penetrate the wood.
