Hello. Okay...the thirtieth of this month would make one year since I'd gotten my very first tattoo...?

I went to this place where they didn't ask for my age, when I was seventeen, and they had me write down some personal information. I was with one of my best friends and she had to do the same. We both got tattoos, and I went first, but amidst all of the exhilaration, I'm not sure I checked to see if the needle was sterile. I did, however, very briefly see the artist move around some plastic cap, or something plastic. My friend said she's sure hers was sterile, but for some reason, I'm a little concerned about mine. This place had a rather cordial atmosphere and the artists seemed to be quite professional. Should I really be worrying myself to death? My hands are even shaking a bit right now... Would you suggest that I go for an HIV test at all? I really thank you all for your time and assistance. :^}

  2. If you're really so nervous, you should go get the test done. Most professional places do check for ID, and need at least two documents proving it.

  3. Stop obsessing and why not get the test anyway

  4. you don't really have to worry about any transmitted disease. your problem would be an infection, and if it's been a year then you've got nothing to worry about.

    I mean, other than what it will look like when you're sixty (hehe)

  5. If you're really that worried, then you should get tested. Even if you're just .01% unsure, then it will at least ease your mind when you come up negative..

    I wouldn't recommend going to a parlour where they don't ask for your age, though, that screams low standards. Even if they seemed nice and cordial, a place that doesn't ask for proof of age or have you sign a waiver saying that you're not under the influence of anything is out for the money, not the art. You gotta have some standards when you're sticking needles in people's bodies all day long.

  6. HIV Tests are really quick nowadays.  I would get one anyway but i doubt you got HIV from the tattoo.  I don't want to panic you but other diseases are more common like hep c.
