Good evening to you all,

I am currently getting out of recruiting and will be moving on to Hawaii. I have never been or heard too much about it there. How is it for an infantry soldier there? The Barracks for single soldier NCO, Soldier life, Field time/Training, and off duty and activities and of course women ( I am leaving NYC so will miss the ladies and I thought Schofield barracks is close to Univ of Hawaii?). Thanks for any and all of your help! I am a little nervous to be leaving recruiting and back to the operational Army once again but also excited.

  1. Schofield barracks is in wahiawa, as UH is in manoa. Not close at all. Night life is a blast in hawaii (in waikiki). As for barracks life, I have no idea. There are a lot of things to do in hawaii. If you're anything like me, and adventerous, you will LOVE it there! Great night clubs, you can learn how to surf, go scuba diving, hikes, swim under waterfalls, the possibilities are endless. However, cost of living in hawaii is very expensive, so your COLA will really help out. Try not to buy anything at ala moana (best mall ever- but major tourist attraction) or any touristy area. Hawaii jacks up the price for the japanese tourist. LOTS of ladies, not enough men!

  2. ret. ssg...,dont worry i/e the ladies there will be plenty and good lookers too. been there done that hjowever only at wikiki  area

  3. schofield barracks..wow i dont think you could do much worse..just wait....but the island itself is gorgeous...convenient too because you can always hope on the bus to get anywhere.....
