Hi, I am sorta looking into buying a horse (I have to get permission from my parents, lol, I'm 13!) and I was just hoping you could help me out.

I am looking for a horse that I can have a lot of fun with, that I can ride every day, and learn from. I like to ride English and Western, but I prefer English. I have never jumped before, but a horse that can jump would be great so I can learn. I also like riding bareback and trail. Any breed would be fine, any age between 5-20yrs old, and preferably taller than 14hh. I am 5'6", so if you think that is a good hight, than, great! Any color is fine too, color doesn't matter much. Hmm.... I guess that's it. Thanks everyone, if you can help me!!

Oh, and I have been looking for horses online, and here are the sites. If you think they sound great for my description, please tell me, and if they don't, well, tell me anyway! Thank you!!!

(I will put the sites on here shortly) :D

just make sure you go and see each horse personally

i narrowed down my online horses to about the 4 best choice horses and visited and rode each one!

i did that like every month lol i rode SO many horses and tried out SO many and  when you finally find you you are SURE you cannot live without ride it andvisit it again before purchasing ok?

i think you should try out these ones and whiever one rides the best and is the safest for you to handle is the one you should get

and if none of themwork out then start searching again! and dont forget craigslsit.com!

the reason i liked ryan the best is because the free lease.. if you live close enough then your parents won'thave to pay board so really try to get him!

and i like the white QH mare but she wasnt registered and i KNOW you will want to at least TRY oneshow lol every horsey person does =)  good luck and i hope you find your perfect horse!!!

and make sure ANY horse you Do buy is SOUND for jumping

here is a checklist for you since your a firsttimebuyer

-Pre-purchase Vet check, if the horse is not sound DO NOT BUY

    - make sure you have a place to put the horse!

-make sure you have a way to transfer the horse

-make sure the horse was not drugged while you wereriding it and try riding multiple time

-YOU tack up the horse by yourself

and YOU lead the horse the horse will always be calmer andmore responsive around the person it knows and if thehorse is responsive to you then thats a well trained and agreeable horse

-make sure the horse has GOOD feet most Thoroughhbreds have bad feet

  2. I would go with Rugged Doc Bar.

He has amazing lines and he is very cheap

Horses out of thew Quarter Horse stallion DOC BAR have a very good temperment!  My horse is related to him as well.  He seems sensible and has a lot of prospect.  He's very cheap to be so well lined and pretty too!  He looks almost exactly like my horse and we jump 3 ft. 9 in.  He also looks good at Western Pleasure.  My horse's full brother received Grand Champion Western Pleasure horse 3 yrs in a row at Southern Regionals 4-H show.

He's got a decent age too so you could keep him for a while.

I would say he's the definite best choice if you want a laid back, friendly, champion!

    **edit**

You absolutely CAN use Quarter horses for jumping.  My horse is a Quarter horse and he can jump almost 4 feet high!  I show him in jumping actually.

  3. quarter horses are like, the all-around horse. all horses CAN be broken english and western, but quarter horses are easiest to break for both.  i have a 7 y/o one and he is ah-mazing, just a biting problem lol. the only problem with them is they might be hard to fit in a saddle, and they can get lame a bit easier than others.  lol im 13 too.  my best advice, buy a horse that you already know. like one thats in the barn, or one a friend is selling.  the horse selling business is very sketchy and they sometimes drug the horses to make them calmer. some drugs even work for a month or so.  my quarter horse jumps, dressage, and trails.  most quarter horses are really bomb-proof too (not easy to spook) also get a gelding, mares can be...tricky.  i have a 15 hand 1 and a friend has a 16 hand, but they can also be about 13-14.  my horse is NOT comfortable bareback beacause he has long, big whithers, but i do it (i just got back from doing just that with my friend LOL) they come in all colors, can be spunky or slow.  but again, i would really reccommend a horse that you know, a friend knows, from a trusted breeder/barn, because the horse can SEEM perfect, but really.....

hope i help XD and i hope u convince ur parents faster than i did lol, ive been riding since i was 3 and i got mine in march haha

  4. Go with the first one. The price is great! The horse looks like he could teach you a lot and you could teach him a lot. You guys can learn together! Hes pretty too!

The fourth one is awsesome too! I would change his name tho :) When you find an all english horse doesn't mean you can't throw a western saddle on him and go on a trail ride. They are just stating what he is best at.

  5. i would go with the 1 that suits ur needs and experiance.u must not choose a horse on its looks!!

  6. I like the third one.  She has some miles on her and has done a lot of things.  I wouldn't go for anything under 8 if I were you.  Sounds like some of those horses have a few issues (when it says things like "needs to be reminded," I would steer clear, unless you have a lot of experience, but you are only 13).  Look for something calm, experienced, and easy for your first horse.  That way you can learn from the horse.  Otherwise you will constantly be fighting with the horse and that will be bad in a lot of ways.

  7. I only looked at the 1st 2 horses but the 1st one is wat i would go with if it is your first...She looks broke, sound, and has a good age on her. BUT lol i havn't decided 4 sure but i possibly have a retired barrel horse for sale. I am training him to rope and if it doesn't go well i will most likely sell him. BUD(thats his name or big man) is 15.2 hands and is Sorrel with a flaxen mane and tail. he is 17 years old and has a great disposition. He is a gelded Quater horse with a great attitude. I ride him Western and English. i ran barrels, poles, and arena race on him but I retired him because he has a slight authritis problem in his front fetlocks. Nothin major. He just needs injections every few months to keep his joints lubricated and I bute him before I ride. He LOVES the trail. just went on one the past friday LOL! crosses water easily but needs encouragement. i ride him bareback ALOT and he longes great! when i 1st got my english saddle i jumped him over square hay bales often and he loved it I have also worked him in an exercise pad for race horses. i'm sure you could make a jumpin horse of him if you took the time he is EXTREMELY smart! Loves alfalfa cubes lol and hot dogs. HA HA don't leave your food around him cuz it won't be there when you get back. BUT IF YOUR INTERESTED  I can give you more details I'm not certain that he is for sale but  i will let you know....if you want to EMAIL me at amlcowgirl@aol.com I AM ASKIN $1,500 FOR HIM

  8. Are you experienced? If you are new to riding horses you are probably going to want a older more experienced horse. 5 is going to be too young and full of spirit if your are learning. Also I would consider taking lessons and helping out at a barn and see what its like taking care of a horse. Its alot of work since you have to feed them everyday, water, exercise, give them new bedding if they are in a barn. Also it gets quite expensive since you have to buy all the gear to properly train and ride them.  Ive been riding/training horses of all ages for the past 8yrs. Ive also been in 4-h so if you have any questions feel free to email me. wandering_forever14@yahoo.com

  9. get the one under the first dreamhorse the 7 year old AQHA gelding it is 900 pounds but i recomend not a sale barn online i am a proud horse owner i have a palamino gelding vaery calm easy to train good with people but dont get one unless you can see it if you do have the guy lung it and that will tell you if it lestens but i prayed for a horse for about 6 mounths and i got one free o and not to young or old about 8 - 15
