is it true the legal age for drinking alcohol is 16 in the UK?

legal age in Britain is 18, it's 16 in belgium.

i live in ireland the legal age is 18, i'm 16 and it really not a problem if i want to drink!

Afraid the legal age for smoking and drinking is 18 in the Uk. Strangely, you can get married and fight for your country at 16 but you can't vote until you are 18 as well.

it is restricted to 18 for purchasing alcohol, at 16 you can order a wine/beer/shandy/cider etc with a meal in pubs and restaurants, as for drinking at home it is 5!

Re: US drinking age.  

Yes, it SHOULD be lowered from 21 to 18 (if you can die for the United States of America @ 18 you should be able to drink there too).  Currently the US age is still 21 the last I heard by the way.
