don't know why everyone is giving you so much S**t. I'm 174 pretty much same situtation as us but not fit atm. I have played semi professional on the wing, and for my state (under 19) and run around playing A-grade in the centre's giving everyone a handfull of trouble. I was always asked are you a hooker, you have the right build so mate your fine. If you have the ability, height really doesn't matter, look at alphy langer in league.

I'm going to assume that you mean 1.74m and not cm.  That being said, it's not too small to play hooker.  Hooker is one of those positions where it sort of pays off to be on the small side as forwards go.  This is because it'll make it easy for your props to support you in the scrum, and it'll be easier for you to pivot forward to hook the ball back.  

I'm 1.8m and i play hooker.  So you're not much smaller than I am.  If you can hook the ball, and throw a decent line-out you should be all set for the #2 jersey.  Prior to that i was a prop, and let me tell you the shorter hookers are much better for scrummaging than taller ones.

Nah mate your fine....besides, there have been brilliant players in other positions (number 8, prop, winger) that were the same height and are phenomenal pro players...

I am a rather tall Prop at 196cm but i manage to play along side a hooker smaller than yourself at 170.

it should be fine aslong as the props either side of you are a similar build to each other.

as long as you have the strength and skill there is no reason you cannot play Hooker

an extra bit of height wouldn't hurt but james dalton who played for the springboks was very short and was a great hooker

if u hav the ryt stocky build and the ryt amount of power then u should go for it

jus remember that behind the props u should b the second strongest (powerfulest) dude in the team... in theory

Need flexibility to steal balls, strong neck and a good arm. I am 1.73 m and played very well in college & club. Could've played premier but too many concussions.
