  1. if u mean like a planetarium software, skyglobe is a very nice one. check it out. http://www.sidewalkastronomy.com/skyglob...

  2. Google of course.

They have this cool search engine that you can use and find out about ANYTHING, pictures, and everything

  3. Google Earth has a fairly impressive sky feature that gets good looks at galaxies and stars. If you want 3-d graphics of planets, stars, etc. then I would recommend "Celestia".

  4. Well, in fact, there's Google Earth.  Once you bring it up, there's a sky mode.  Check the menus.

For Windows machines, there's also World Wide Telescope.  I run Linux, and so don't know much about it.  I use Google Earth.

But I also have several planetarium programs on my machine.  Celestia, Stellarium, kstars, xephem. kstars comes on most Linux distributions, and is the first such program i've seen that lets you get more information about an object over the internet.  I just links you to existing web sites, but the information available at these sites is really good.

This is a free program from the Hayden Planetarium (Part of the American Museum of Natural History). It's a pretty cool program that allows you to feel as if you are really flying through space.

If you are looking for a program that offers beautiful images then look into a program called "Starry Night." It is not free, but it is quite a fun piece of software.

  6. Google Earth has an add-on called "Google Sky" which gives you the view from the Earth looking out. You can zoom in on sky objects.
