Hello my 2000 dodge caravan 3.0 l has a problem with my a/c compressor??

anyways its making this whining sort of noise it gets louder if i accelerate when im in park..anyways if it is failing, and from where i am up north somewhere i cant just get a part just like that or cant take it to a dealer or shop because there aint any here and no highway either i know sukks!! cant i just take off the belt and unplug the compressor??? with the refringment still present inside? or can it be a clutch problem? i just want to get rid of the noise as soon as possible too loud.. anyone? ok thanks!!!!!

  1. if it indeed the ac compressor you will need an ac clutch hub all you can do is replace but if you don't use ac just take off belt and will be fine


  2. you need to take it in to a shop and have them listen to it,most of the time the air compressor wont make a whining noise like that,you,d be better off having it fixed rather than trying to by pass it,the compressor on those also turns some in the winter to help with defrosting the windows,so having it working is lot beter than having it disconneced,good luck with it.

  3. Sorry, this is just me... I would go to a dealer and have him run a test on it.
