Question:

Hello there world - My central A/C is splashing condensation all over the place - it is draining - any ideas?

geesh! This one is about drive me nuts !!

It is not frozen-it is level-cannot find any cracks in the drain pan-the drain hose is not clogged-the evap.coil is clean-but it keeps dripping all over the bottom of the unit and soaking floor !?? Can't afford the A/C guy . Any help out there ?

  1. I'm not an expert in HVAC(my son is and he's not here right now), but as long as the condensation is draining out, that is suppose to be a good sign.  You must live in a  humid place.  I have a very green spot just out from my drain pipe...it's real humid here in Virginia.  If the condensation is draining from anywhere but that pipe, you need to call in your service guy.  There could be a blockage somewhere along the way.


  2. Is it level.  Could it have been knocked while being serviced?

  3. Your A coil could be clogged with dirt, and that causes the moisure to build up for a while, then when there is too much, it will force down the drain, and then repeat.   It sounds to me like it needs to be cleaned out, and soon.  if too much gets into the furnace, it could rust out your heat exchanger.

  4. Turn it off.  Let it sit there for awhile and melt.  Is it frozen?  You should have a way to drain it manually.
