  1. You could name each of the tables after local flowers/trees or animals you see in the summer. Nature names are very good for this.

For example in Australia we might have:

    Wallaby

    Lorikeet

    Platypus

    Koala

Or if we decided to choose flowers:

    Coolabah

    Melaleuca

    Kangaroo Paw

    Spinifex

  2. In a game I play on-line, I name all of my cities after flowers, but using the Latin name. Latin for sunflower is Helianthus. Another is called "Acacia."

I don't know, but I really like the Latin names - they sound kind of exotic or tropical (for the most part), and eventually someone will figure it out. Or make sure your MOH or bridal party point this out so everyone will know how awesome you are!

Here is a website that shows the Latin, English, and French names as well as some "meanings" or symbols of the flowers. Some are the same in more than one language, such as "Iris." So if you used that, people will definitely start figuring it out.

Of course, you do have 3 years to try your ideas out!

    Congratulations!

  3. I wouldn't worry just yet. My taste has changed in the last three years and I am sure yours will too.

  4. Wow! Early planning is always good! Blue and yellow go together beautifully, by the way-- one of my favorite color combos. Anyways, I once went to a wedding where each table was named after a Hawaiian island, because it was a tropical themed wedding. However, that might not go so well with your wedding because yours doesn't seem to be tropical. Then, I just recently helped set up a wedding where instead of numbers or names, the bride and groom printed off pictures of themselves posed at different beaches (their wedding was beach themed) and put them in color-coordinated frames at each table. Then guests found the correct table by matching up the picture they picked up at the entrance with the table's pic. Cool, huh? Also, I've seen weddings where the centerpieces galvanized buckets (fancy term for silver bucket) were filled with flowers that matched the wedding party's. Then they wrote on the bucket the number of the table. I've also seen seashells spelled out in the number of the table. But, the coolest thing I've seen is at my friend's wedding a few years ago. Their wedding was summer themed and consisted of orange and pink gerbera daisies. At the head table, there was an arrangement of all pink and orange daisies. At each guest table, there were centerpieces of different colored daisies (purple, yellow, blue, cream, white, salmon, etc) Guests were given a different color daisy at the reception entrance and had to find their daisy table! Nothing to do with names, but still cool. You could also name each table after people in your wedding party! (example- Lydia's table, Mike's table, etc) Good luck!
