  1. I don't think this has anything to do with race and the city of Boston because if you look at the Yankees they also dont have a black player in their lineup. There a number of good black players but they dont play in Boston or New York. The Rays have some 2 players that come to mind in BJ Upton and Carl Crawford. I don't think this is an issue just a sign of the times. The percentage of black players in baseball has gone down. You could say that its becuase teams are now scouting more in latin america and are finding talent their rather than here.

  2. If David Ortiz never talked, & you didnt know his name you sure would think he is!

The real truth is though...for some reason Black Athletes dont choose to play MLB, they go to the NBA or the NFL. If you look at the number of black people around the league there isnt very many to go around. No one is stupid enough to turn down a player because of the color of his skin. The best people AVAILABLE for the job are playing. Not all the best people are playing all the sports, some are playing in others. It is just a life choice not a racist choice.

  3. this is a very sensitive topic

  4. Well I am assuming it was removed as a result of the nasty answers you got.

To answer your original question... there is a lack of black major league players right now and a real lack of quality black major leaguers.  It gets tough for every team to have a lot of black players when there aren't many around in the game anymore. However the Red Sox do have no shortage of of Hispanic and Asian players so I doubt this is a polict of racism on their behalf.

  5. u think thats bad

the cardinals dont have a single black

  6. We have a lot of guys from different races though...

Manny (who I'm counting since he was on our team for 8 years), Ortiz, Lugo, Coco Crisp, Delcarmen, Matsuzaka, Okajima, etc...

Why are you trying to take a cheap shot at the Red Sox?

  7. Because the racism questions get out of hand and don't need to be asked at all.

  8. yeah well their are only 11 black players in the NHL go complain about that

  9. It is true that the Red Sox were the last team to integrate (Pumpsie Green, 1959) but they have had some black players on the team of note in more recent years and at least a couple of those were fan Favorites.

Nevertheless, their record is not good.  It may have something to do with their fans.  Boston, as a city, doesn't have a ggod record when it comes to race relations.  For example, well into the seventies they were having the busing/integrating schools problems that everywhere else had resolved many years prior.

As a fan, this is the aspect of the club that I am least proud of.

  10. Guess it depends on how you asked the question.  Why not appeal the violation?

  11. Any question u put up about racism will get removed. Even if u are not playing the race card. And your right, its the truth. But remember. That is the city of Boston. And this question will probably be removed as well

  12. The Red Sox are playing their best players out there.  They are in a deep pennant race.  I doubt race is even on their mind rite now.

  13. The Red Sox were the last team to integrate, so racism has always been an issue with the team.  The fact that they let HOF-bound Manny go so easily just exacerbates the problem.  I'm thrilled that he's rocking in LA.  Would love to see Manny go full Hollywood now.

  14. Because they probably thought you were being racist.

EDIT: Why did I get a thumbs down?  I said that they THOUGHT that you were, not BEING racist.
