  1. Do you want to fit in with all the idiots in half helmets or 3/4 helmets or do you want real protection?  This is life and death, not a fashon show.

  2. i would say  the more protection the better but speed is also a question  if you stay under 50 a half helmet should be OK just do not buy a Shoie

  3. Have to agree with Biker for life.

    Make up your own mind.

Id not listen to some of these kids.

Ive been riding for over 45 years and have never taken a rock, or any road disbris to the head or face.

As far as neck snapping, Ive seen it with all kinds of buckets, and no bucket.

Enjoy the freedom while you can.

Be a MAN and get what you like

  4. Buy what you like.

  5. unless you're on a cruiser with a good sized windshield, i'd suggest full face.

  6. Hands down a full face helmet offers the best protection. You'll know when you take a rock to the face. Only you can decide however so try a bunch on to find a good fit.

Open face helmets are great to feel the wind and cruise around but if you take a header then your face can still get all ground up plus they dont protect your chin and side of your face nearly as much.

Have you thought of a flip up helmet...kind of a little of both worlds? Take into consideration also the type of rider you are and what type of bike you have. Not saying one is safer than the other but if you are riding a rice burner and buy anything but a full face helmet then you are asking to get hurt...

    stay safe

    Stupid Hurts.

  7. Full face, that fits, has a real DOT sticker, and a Snell rating.

  8. I would say go with the open face helmet.

There is still a big risk of sever neck injury, but it is less with an open face helmet, as compared to a full face helmet.  Granted if you hit on your face it may well get messed up , but your neck will not break at the base of your skull, so you need to decide if it is your looks or your life you are going for.

If you are lucky enough to live in a free state you may be able to wear no helmet, which I find the best.

Browse the link for some studies.

  9. But it has to be pink so everybody can see you are a newbie
