  1. No. Just wrap yourself in a thick bundle of cotton wool!

  2. YES, not by law but you only have one skull, is looking cool by not wearing one that important.

  3. i'm 68 and have never had a head injury and I've never had a  helmet on. wonder how that could have happened. this whole country is what if something happens crazy.

  4. nanny state. must have been THOUSANDS killed before the advent of cycle helmets.

  5. Do you value your personality, your physical ability to move and ride your bike?

    Have you seen the results of thowing a melon or a pumpkin out of a vehicle or off a bridge or a cliff......S Q U I S H !!!

At least you have a (pardon the pun) "head start", and some protection when you wear a helmet.

It's dangerous riding a bike on the streets.........imagine how dangerous it is riding trails with trees, rocks, mud, grass, rain, etc..........

    SO I SAY      Y    E    S

  6. I watched someone riding real fast, hit a pot-hole, wipe out head first into the curb. They were wearing a helmet, and it cracked (the outter shell and halfway through the white foamy stuff). Aside from a few scrapes and a sore head he was okay... obviously would have been hospitalized without a helmet.

Seems stupid to not wear one... the very worst that could happen is someone points and calls you a wimp for wearing it.

  7. Yes always for your protection....

  8. First do this. Go out side and run your hear into a wall. Now do you think you need a helmet or not?

    DAAAAAA YES

  9. Yes.

Since I misplaced my helmet, I've only been taking it real easy on low-traffic roads on mine.

After my last few bike accidents (I've had at least 20 which could have put me, and would have put most people, in the hospital) I realized I was really pushing my luck...having never once hit my head any of those times.  No way that's going to keep up forever.  But since I was riding on steeper surfaces with more rocks and/or concrete sticking out than I ever had before...yeah, helmets were making more sense.

If you intend to make good time on the street, or you intend to take your bike anyplace rocky or woody at anything above a walking pace, wear a helmet.

  10. If you wear a helmet, you will feel pain when you are lying in the road, after a crash, because you will be conscious.  If you come off without a helmet, you may feel no pain because you are unconscious.

Having done both, I think that I will keep with the helmet and pain and less chance of death and brain damage.

Anyone who has ridden for years without a crash may have one tomorrow, as you might.

I guess it all comes down to whether you think seat belts, traffic lights and helmet infringe your civil liberties.
