Helmut Marko and Dietrich Mateschitz are not on the same page regarding Sebastian Vettel
Red Bull team owner, Dietrich Mateschitz and team advisor, Helmut Marko have different views about Sebastian Vettel’s contract. Dietrich says that Red Bull can let Vettel go if he wants to, but Marko thinks that the fresh contract that Vettel has signed
is not too simple for the German driver.
Dietrich commented a couple of days ago that Red bull will let the youngest Formula 1 Champion go, if he wishes to leave the team before his contract expires. The Red Bull drinks company owner said that if Vettel “wants to go to Ferrari or Mercedes ... we
would let him go.”
However, Dietrich’s right hand and Red Bull advisor, Marko, thinks that the youngest Champion will not have a door open in his contract, until the 2014 season.
Helmut expressed his feelings about Dietrich’s comment and said that it is the team’s philosophy to let people leave if they want to, but Vettel will not be going anywhere before the 2014 season.
The team advisor admitted, “The fact that someone can get out if he wants to is absolutely within the philosophy of Mr Mateschitz."
Marco added, “But in an organisation that is investing a lot of money, we do need some sorts of guarantees. It's not about loyalty; a top sportsman has to be an extreme egoist. But we are now so strong that even if we go to a season start with a car incapable
of winning, we would be able to quickly catch up.”
The talks about Vettel’s contract and a clause in his contract, which was going to earn the German his freedom from the Red Bull team at the end of 2011, has hit the news when Vettel showed eagerness to drive for the Ferrari team.
Vettel has asserted many times now that he would love to drive the famous red car of Ferrari and have his name in the Ferrari driver list.
Nevertheless, Vettel has yet not shown enough agility to leave the Red Bull team in near future. The German is bound to drive the Red Bull car until 2014 and so far, he is very happy in the team as he has won two out of the three races in the Formula 1 2011
season.
