Helmut Marko believes Sebastian Vettel will never forget Ferrari’s behaviour – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team advisor, Helmut Marko believes that their driver, Sebastian Vettel will never forget how Ferrari behaved at the end of the 2012 Formula 1 season.
After the season finale, the Scarlet team wrote an unofficial letter to FIA so as to ask for the necessary clarifications over the legitimacy of Vettel’s overtake which according to a video clip was during the yellow flag as warning lights were flashing
in his car’s cockpit.
However, the Federation stated that the veteran German driver’s pass was in accordance with the rules and declared it completely legal.
Eventually, the team principal of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali said that they consider the matter closed now. In addition, he said that they went to FIA only because they had to satisfy their fans, broadcasters and investors.
On the other hand, Marko has said that the triple world champion has a strong memory and he is not going to forget Ferrari’s behaviour which intended to bring him down from the championship title.
“Sebastian has the memory of an elephant. He logs everything. And he will remember exactly how Ferrari behaved after the finale,” he told Sport Bild.
It will be important to note that Vettel struggled in the opening few races of this season because the Milton Keynes based team failed to create full understanding about RB8’s design.
Nevertheless, the chief technical officer of Red Bull, Adrian Newey successfully developed the most competent car in the field towards the end of the season and the 25-year-old performed tremendously well during the last few grands prix. Finally, he claimed
his third consecutive world championship title after securing sixth place finish in the Brazilian GP.
Furthermore, he stood just three points ahead of his main rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari in the drivers’ championship.
With regard to Ferrari’s stance after the final round of this season, Vettel expressed that all the contenders in the sport must learn to recognise the good performances of others.
“You don’t want to lose, but you still should know how to,” Vettel said.
“You have to respect your opponent and recognise their good performances,” he added.
