Helmut Marko indicates Mark Webber will continue with Red Bull Racing – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team advisor, Helmut Marko has recently indicated that their driver, Mark Webber will continue to stay at his current team after 2012 Formula 1 season.
Webber’s contract with Red Bull is going to expire at the end of this year. Meanwhile, there have been many speculations that the Australian driver may join Ferrari for the next season.
However, Marko has dismissed all the rumours and said that Webber is very much pleased with the team and he is motivated to continue his journey in the sport with the defending champions.
“He has indicated to us that he has the necessary motivation and wants to keep going,” the Austrian told Sport Bild. “We know where we stand with him, and he knows where he stands with us.”
On the other hand, Webber also denied all the reports that he is moving to the Scarlet team.
“No. Ferrari will need eight cars next year to fit all the drivers who are going to replace Felipe,” he smiled.
He added, “That’s the way it is with them (Red Bull). All I can say is that I have started the last few years without a job for the next championship.”
Furthermore, he is presently standing at fourth position in the drivers’ championship with 79 points. Additionally, he is 6 points behind his teammate, Sebastian Vettel and 12 points ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
It will be important to mention that he has been one of the most consistent drivers in the season so far as he secured 4th place finish in the first four grands prix.
He took an incredible victory in the Monaco GP held at Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo after setting off from the pole position. Besides, he secured seventh place finish in the last race at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal after starting from 4th grid
position.
In addition, he is aiming to fight for this year’s championship title. Over and above, he is positively looking forward to perform well in the 2012 European Grand Prix which is to be held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain on June 24.
