Helmut Marko refuses Sebastian Vettel’s contract extension – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team advisor, Helmut Marko has refused that they have extended Sebastian Vettel’s contract for two more years.
Vettel has signed a deal with the Milton Keynes based team until 2014. However, after he won his third successive world drivers’ championship title, there have been a lot of speculations that Red Bull has signed the German driver for two more years after
the expiry of his present contract.
However, Helmut has totally discharged all the reports and has said that there has been no new agreement with the 25-year-old. In addition, he said that he really don’t know from where these speculations come from.
“We have a contract until 2014,” Marko told Sport Bild. “That is it, nothing else and nothing more.”
“I do not know where these rumours come from,” he added.
It will be important to mention that Red Bull struggled a lot in this season with their car’s design because of the banning of double diffuser by FIA which was their main strength during the last year.
Nonetheless, they kept on fighting hard and successfully developed the fastest car in the field towards the end of the season with which their star driver performed tremendously well in the last few races and claimed the championship title.
The three-time world champion said that they are feeling immensely pleased with their overall achievement in this year and are earnestly looking forward to keep on performing well in the future.
“At the end of the season though we got more comfortable, it felt better. Obviously we had some tough luck early in the season but in the end we scored some big points and were in the lead,” Vettel said.
“Waking up on Sunday morning in Brazil I didn't expect so many things would happen, I think the season was summed up in that race. I didn't go as planned,” he added.
It is to be noted that former F1 driver, Niki Lauda has dismissed all the ongoing rumours that Vettel has won only because of his competitive car and has asserted that he can claim the championship title with any team.
