Helmut Marko says Red Bull Racing have extended their deal with Christian Horner – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team advisor, Helmut Marko has said that they have extended their contract with the team principal, Christian Horner for several more years.
Horner joined the Milton Keynes based squad back in 2005 and was the youngest team principal at that time. He led the team with great dedication and has achieved so much in his career so far which is really admirable.
The 39-year-old surely stands amongst one of the most dedicated team bosses in the history of the sport.
Red Bull have successfully claimed their third successive drivers’ as well as the constructors’ championship titles in the 2012 Formula 1 season and Horner has played a remarkable role in this triumph.
Furthermore, it is to be noted that he has worked very well with the chief technical officer of Red Bull, Adrian Newey who is known as the most talented engineer in the world of autosport. Additionally, he has always been a great source of encouragement
for their star driver, Sebastian Vettel who has become the youngest triple world champion in this season.
There had been many speculations that Mercedes were considering Horner as a potential replacement of Norbert Haug who has recently stepped down from the role of head of motorsport. However, Marko has completely dismissed all the rumours and has asserted
that the Briton is going to stay at Red Bull in the future as they have successfully extended their contract with him.
“Horner has extended his contract with us last week, by several years,” Marko said.
In addition, he said that the Brackley based team is too late to sign Horner as they have already signed him for the coming years.
“Mercedes is too late,” he added.
It will be important to mention that the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher, who has taken retirement from the sport, has also been linked with the role of motorsport president in Mercedes.
However, according to the report of Bild newspaper, the record championship holder is not interested in the job and is just looking forward to enjoy his life after retirement from F1.
“Schumacher is not available. He has no interest in the job,” the report stated.
