Helmut Marko says Webber can take important points away from other drivers – Formula 1 News
Formula 1 Red Bull Racing team consultant, Helmut Marko, has recently updated the media with a fact that his driver Mark Webber can take points off from the others F1 drivers, in the remaining 2011 season.
Webber had a tough start to the current season, as he was unable to finish his successful run on the grid. Due to some Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) issues in his ‘RB7’ car, he could not make his good progress over the first two races of the season,
held in Australia and Malaysia, respectively.
On the other hand, the 2011 season seems lucky for his team-mate, Sebastian Vettel, who has had a meteoric start to the ongoing season. After four successful races this year, Vettel is 38 points ahead of Webber, who sits on the third spot in the driver’s
standings.
Marko admitted that they do not have any team orders and said, "But it's a fact that, generally since Silverstone 2010, Mark has been three tenths of a second slower than Sebastian. That's too slow to be able to win with own his steam. But if as in Turkey
he races at a high level, he can take important points away from the others.”
After the Malaysian race, the Australian driver really worked hard despite having KERS issues. He finished his first podium place of the season, at the China race track.
He took part in the recent Turkish race with hopes of winning but his team-mate, Vettel, was much faster than him over the track. Webber finished his race behind him, while Vettel put the team on the top spot. The 34-year-old driver again put his wonderful
performance on the grid after the Shanghai race, where he ended his race with supportive points for Red Bull team.
The team drivers are in competitive form and it is right to say that one of them might win this year’s title. The next race of the season will take place on May 22, at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Spain.
