Help, I have a problem with my boss at work?

I work in a very number driven department in the banking industry and they are offering a $20,000 bonus at the end of this year for the person with the highest numbers. I am one out of 4 other top people in a department of 2500 people that have high enough number/stats that qualify to try for this huge bonus. My boss has always been good about giving me my compitition's numbers/stats so I can see where I stand in comparison...For what ever reason this last month in a half she has been ignoring my requests for my competition's numbers/stats. She has told me lies to my face and even ignored and dismissed verbal and written (e-mail) requests for information. I have been so worried after months of hard work and huge amounts of over-time to try and win this competition for the $20,000 that it will all be in vain because my boss has shut off to me and all my requests just for simple numbers/stats that have never been a problem to ask for in the past. I asked another manager last week when my boss was not there for the day for the numbers/stats I needed and she gave me a good portion of information with a smile that same day. I was so upset because now I knew that this information I needed has and was available to me and for what ever reason my manager has been denying me for over a month. I went to the Director of my department today and spoke with him and he basically listened to me but I feel no resolve at all...He is basically just going to talk to her. What is your opinion on this matter? What should I do? I almost feel like quitting I am so upset and mad that for a month this has been making me feel awful and for what? Please, help.

  1. Sounds like this bank has serious management problems...Don't quit yet...win the bonus money and then quit. You sound like you have quite a head on your shoulders...Other banks would be lucky to have you. Good luck!

  2. ur in marriage & divorce

  3. I would quit no boss should ever lie to you!!!!!

  4. Work hard.

  5. Read your employee handbook and department policies closely to see if anything is stipulated relative to sharing the stats with employees.  If it states that they will be made available at periodic intervals or upon request, point out the policy and hold them to it.  If it doesn't, you're at their mercy.  Honestly, I haven't worked for a company that will share any type of work related stats with an employee other than their own stats.  I used to manage a numbers driven group and would only offer individuals their own stats upon request.  There were monthly rewards associated for the employee who had the best stats.  The only time that everyone's stats were made public was at the time the award was presented.  If they have been sharing others' numbers with you, I think they're probably out of line to begin with.

  6. Perhaps she has a new pet. My crystal ball says - No bonus for you. What job? Keep working there. Don't want job? Quit. If you have savings, go on a quest for why money makes you miserable.

  7. maybe your boss lied to you to work you out.
