It is a great probability that the two vinyl sheeting layers have asbestos due to their age. I would like to know how to remove as I must do the work myself.

  1. for your health and the health and safety of your family, or the next people to live in the house, i'd just bury it. cover the floor with underlayment plywood (about 1/4 -5/16" thick), s***w it down, cement the seams and s***w heads with leveling cement, then tile or carpet over that. that won't make that much of a difference unless you have a dishwasher, and you can pull that out, run the new flooring in there, then shorten the legs on the d/w and put it back in. it's the same thing you'd probably have to do after you rip up the old flooring, but without the work or health risks. please listen, and good luck.

  2. I recomend that you get a professional asbestous remover. But if you insist, then what you can do is wear one of those Tievac suits that you can throw away at the end of the day stay well covered in clothing and wear a respirator that will protect you from asbestous that stuff is hazordous to your health an will kill you if you breath it in Good Luck do plenty of research before you start removing it.
