Help, I lost my passport!!!!?

Ok, so I needed to get my passport renewed becausr Im going to Morocco Aug. 5th. Ive been looking for it the past week, and no luck finding it. So I have no choice to report it as lost. The thing is I dont know ho to go about doing this. my questions are: if my passport needed to be renewed but I lost it do I report it as lost then file for a brand new one? Or do i report it lost and file for a renewal?

If Im leaving Aug.5th do you think that all of this will be done in time before I have to leave?

You don't mention your country, but if it's the US then a passport agency is your best bet. Normal channels could take 6 weeks or more.

i dont think youll be able to get a new one by then no. i dont know for sure. its worth a try. i suggest tearing your house apart to find it though.

You need to inform your department of internal affairs (or whoever issues passports in your country). I would call them and ask what to do. Most countries have a speed / urgent service for passports, but they cost more (sometimes a lot more). It could be worth checking your travel insurance (assuming you have it) to see if they cover loss of documents. Unlikely, but maybe they will pay for the replacement passport.
