Ok, first of all, I'm not pregnant but I just want to be prepared.

I have two daughter's already (Hayley and Skye) and if/when we have another daughter I really want to use the name Chrysanthe (cris-ANN-thee) I have loved the name since I was about 5 years old and have always said if I ever have a daughter I am going to use it. Like I said, I have two daughters already and didn't use itfor either one of them (obvouisly). We don't even know if we are going to have any more kids but if we do it might be my last and only chance to use the name I have loved for so long (thats if I can convince my other half to like it too).

Anyway, do you think its usuable? Or is it too 'out there' compared to Hayley and Skye which are quite popular (especially Hayley) do you think I could use Chrysanthe (provided my partner likes it too) or should I just ditch it altogether? I have other names on my list that I really like/love but have loved this for about 20 years. I'd be dissapinted if I didn't use it.

Thanks everyone.

Also, I'm not asking for your opinions on the name, just weather its usuable or not. :)

  1. sure, you can use it. it is an interesting and pretty name.

  2. usable and cutie

  3. Usable, It is a wonderful name.

  4. most definitely.

    i think it's different

    but still very sweet.

    (:

  5. I dont think its too out there, I think its a beautiful and unique name, and sounds appropriate, not like a name where people would be thinking "What where the parents on when they named this kid?"

If you ever have another girl name her Chrysanthe.

And just in case you weren't aware, I think its an ancient Greek name and I read that its meaning is "Marigold"

I say its usuable! And if you have a boy instead of a girl, the male version of Chrysanthe is Chrysanthos.

  6. What do you mean usable? All names are usable, people have named their child Peanut. I don't know, it doesn't really sound like a name, more like an incomplete word. It reminds me of Chrysanthamum (sp).

  7. if you love the name why not? i mean if your partner love's it too that's means it's no problem! Who knows how many ocasions are u still going to have ...

  8. I like it. It's different and pretty. I don't think I'd use it as a first name though. Even though I really do think it's nice, I think it could cause teasing. Also spelling and pronunciation could be problems.

I'd definitely use it as a middle name though. If it's a name you have loved since you were 5 then use it.

It is a little out there compared to Hayley and Skye. Except a lot of names are like that now. Crysanthe is nice and you can have some nicknames of Chrys and Chryssi. It may not cause any teasing at all but if it does you could always put Chryssi on the school list instead. [ if you have to that is ]

Overall I think you should use it if you have another child. Whether it be a middle name or not is your choice.

    Good luck.
