It's been like this for a while, like couple of weeks. It was just a white spot thought it was a clogged duct but now i don't think so. shes been sucking on it and now it opened up but its not bleeding. it's just a cut, and it aches sometimes, only the nipple. the cut is right on it. Should i pump that breast for milk? How can i heal it? Any advise is appreciated.

  2. when i started breastfeeding my nipples felt like they were on fire!! because she wasnt latched on right, but i used lansolinoh hpa lanolin. it made my nipple feel so much better. i also heard putting some of you breastmilk on the spot helps too. the lanolin is just a cream you put after your baby eats, and you dont have to clean it when its on you, is made perfectly fine for you baby to ingest it, try it it will help your cut heal. do not pump!! you need your baby to make your nipples strong, if you pump it will just take longer for your cut to heal because your baby will open it over and over again, and it will make your milk supply go down. so just keep on BF and use the cream.

  3. Well you can use the lanolin ointment, but I was allergic to it. So I would pump and use the bottle until it healed. Make sure you get low flow nipples and they are used to mimic your nipple. Also be sure that your baby will take a bottle some don't. If she doesn't breastfeed on the other breast and pump and save the milk until you can get your baby used to bottles. Also after you shower leave your nipple to air dry that helps it heal.

  4. Have you tried the Lanolin cream?  It helps soooo much.  You may want to pump that breast for a while to see if you can get it healed.

  5. Lansolin (brand) lanolin ointment works wonders!  also, try rubbing your breast milk on it to dry.  i, too had sore nipples during my 1st wk. run with breast feeding; very painful!  using that ointment was the best for me.  i suggest you continue letting your baby suck on the nipple to get you through the trial and pain.  what's happening is, by your baby sucking, she/he is creating a opening that most fits their eating needs.  it'll all be over, soon, trust.

    congratulations and enjoy these times!
