  1. from my experience most cats do hate each other at first, it is a territory thing. But over time they will eventually tolerate each other, well at least my cats have. I would let them see each other through a crack in the door way or through a fly screenn door. Have the new kitten in his carry box and you hold your older cat and have treats ready to give to him. He will think he is being replaced so you MUST do everything you can to reassure him this is not the case. Pat him and give him treats and let him sniff at the other cat through the container/fly screen/ doorway. The older cat is the Alpha cat and always will be till the day he dies so never forget that. And also feed the older cat first b4 the new one, always give and do everything with the older cat first to let both cats know who is the alpha male. That should help a bit. I've had cats for over 25 years so I have learnt a few things.

    Good Luck!!!

  2. If you get both cats neutered then they will not spray (mark) anymore. They no longer feel the need as they will not feel that they need to mark territory.

Introduce your cats slowly by leaving one in one room and one in another, and switching bedding for a few nights, and then introduce them to each other through a gap in a door until they feel ok with each other.

  3. from past experience, both cats will mark their territory. the second one will follow suit.  big mistake unless you do something about the first one.

  4. Male cats stop spraying once you give them an antidepressant-

see your vet. That's how they tame retired stud males.

One word of caution for the new cat- keep him quarretinted watch out for any sicknesses first- like runny eyes, sneezing fever diarrhea.

It is more difficult to bring a new cat in the house when they aren't both kittens. It'll take a longer adjustment.

    good luck

  5. There is pretty much no way to stop a male cat from marking.  If you bring another male cat it, it will probably mark as well.

Introducing two cats to each other can be tricky, don't leave them alone together or shove them together, be sure to do this in a way that they can't hurt each other.
