Help, my computer is going haywire? Internet Explorer populates the address field with random c**p!?

I have a dial-up isp and have to open IE in a separate window to browse. About 50% of the time, when I start IE and type in a URL, it starts populating the address field with other sites URLs, but they're "stacked" on top of the address I typed in and so I end up with three or four addresses and naturally this leads me to the "page not found" and I typically have to restart my pc. Simply closing IE and restarting it doesn't work. Anyone who's had a similar experience and knows how to fix it, please answer, your help is much appreciated, and of course you get BA. Your browser has been hijacked (malware, kind of like a virus).  I would try a reputable spyware remover.  The link below is an example.
