I went to water my flowers this morning and i noticed one of the pots has mites, i think. there are these little whitish greenish bugs all over the back of the plant that i didn't notice before. is there a way to get rid of them without killing the plant? also how do i protect my other plants?

  1. whitish greenish bugs?.. did you look up aphids?....

  2. Aphids is also my best guess.

You should look into getting a spray bottle of Bedbug Terminator from www.kleen-free.com and dilute it even more than it comes to you.  probably a 10 to 1 ratio and that should control the aphids or whatever other mite you have and it is safe to use on plants, around kids, pets etc.  Also spray it on the other plants to get any that have migrated.

This is pesticide and chemical free so there is not a worry about using it over and over again.  It works by breakning down the exoskeleton of the bugs that it is sprayed on and I know it works on mites etc.   I would dilute it from full strength becuase it is formulated for bedbugs and mites.aphids are much smaller.

They  should be able to tell you the right dilution ratio at the website.

  3. use some soapy water on them, not too much ok,then sprinkle some sevin powder on them...because if they get to the tomato plant you will be very sad....I hope this help...

  4. White oil should do the trick. Its a good all purpose, non toxic insecticide available at your local hardware or nursery. Take in a cutting of the flower and they'll soon confirm the best treatment.

Prevention is better than cure of course, so focus in future on boosting the health of your plants (water, appropriate soil /fertiliser, good position). Read and file the labels for all the plants you buy - they  have most of the essential information.

As far as Wikipedia goes - you can trust it to a point - especially if you see that there are a number of authors - they tend to weed out (pardon the pun) the dodgy contributions.
