Help, my puppys poor eye!?

Question

My puppy is 4 months old, yesterday i took him to the vet cos he kept squinting, the vet said it could be conjunctivitis and gave us eye drops, however, there has been no discharge from the eye. Today though, his eye is gone all blue and glazed looking, his other eye is fine???

Is he going blind? Should I bring him back to the vet or is this possibly the effects of conjunctivitis?

If the eye is turning blue cloudy that can also be cataracts which is not as bad as glaucoma but still no fun... get out the credit card time.

Agree with posters about eye specialist for te dog.. however you vet shoud be able to tell a cataract from an eye infection.. call him back

It could be glaucoma, and untreated, it could lead to blindness.  Also, giving the wrong eye drops could make it worse.  Take your dog to an eye specialist.

Blue/milky doesn't gaurantee permanent blindness.  Take your bugger back to the vet.

You should defidently take your pet to the vet again. your dog might have had an infection to the eye drops the vet gave you earlier. Make sure you set up an appointment soon to save your poor puppies eye!!! Good luck!!!!! :)

If your Vet isn't giving you a solution, search for your nearest Veterinary Opthamologist. We had our dog with two different Vets who couldn't diagnose him because really they don't have the advanced equipment and they aren't heavily trained in eye specializtion. Also the first vets diagnosis on my dog was conjuctivitis (but in both eyes)....

My Dog was not a puppy but still only a few years old and I would give anything for him to have his sight back.

This sounds like a problem for an animal eye clinic.  My chihuahua has glaucoma that started with a blue, glazed look.  Glaucoma WILL cause blindness.  I'm a little alarmed that your vet said it COULD be conjunctivitis.  Check with the eye clinic to be sure.  If it's something else, you could be doing more harm by giving the wrong drops.

He could have an eye infection from bacteria , or non sterile eye drops. Go to the vet immediately. If you don't the dog could go blind. At least call the vet. They are the professionals.
