Help, my wii remote drains my batteries really fast?

I probably only can use it for about 8 hours before the battery dies. I have probably used my wireless game cube controller however for 70 hours before the battery died, what is wrong with my remote.

  1. The Wii remote is a lot higher-tech than a Gamecube controller. There's nothing wrong with your remote; it just takes a lot of juice to power the infrared sensor and the accelerometer. I was going through batteries once a week as well, for TWO remotes.

Look for the Nyko remote charge station. I believe it's $30, and it pays for itself after about a month and a half of not having to purchase batteries. Normally, I'd be leery of third party accessories, but I've had mine for eight months with no problems.

  2. Thats normal the gamecube controller doesent do much so it has more battery length but wii you are moving around and it is sending signals to wii very fast and uses more battery hope this helps

  3. That happens to mine too.  The normal battery life for the Wii Remotes is supposed to be 8 hours about.  The GameCube controllers do not have motion sensing, but the Wii Remote does, which uses more signaling and battery use.

Just make sure you have some extra rechargeable batteries.   :)

  4. I've noticed a strange phenomenon (don't know if it is actually true or not) that the Wii-mote batteries will drain even when YOU ARE NOT USING IT???  I have heard other people complaining about the same thing... but who knows if it's really true...

BUT... one thing you could do is to remove the batteries from the Wii-mote when you are not using it!!  Give it a try and see if you notice any difference in the length of time you have...

OR... consider getting one of the Nintendo Wii charging stations ( or charging docks) that constantly recharge your Wii-mote when it is sitting in the charging station.  With one of those units, you wouldn't really have to worry about recharging the batteries because they would automatically recharge every time you put the Wii-mote back in the docking station.
