Help, need information on traveling in Germany.?

I am planning a trip to Munich. I'd like to go to Fussen to see Castle Neuschawnstein, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and possibly somewhere around Konigssee, possibly even Salzburg. I know you can take a train from Munich to all of these places, but I'm confused about what tickets I will need. I see that many travel websites suggest using the Bayern ticket, but when I go to look up on www.bahn.de, it doesn't look like I can get there using this ticket alone. Please help.

u can use the Bayernticket on all trains but ICE and IC. The ticket is 19 EUROS - valid from 9 o clock.

I'd suggest you buy your ticket at the "Reiseinformation" ("travel information") at the station. This will cost you an additional 2 euros, but they will print you out a complete schedule to your destination and back.

thats because they all dont come with only one ticket....each time you travel you must buy a new ticket for the price to the destination...there are alot of things you need to know with the train...example is with the ICE train (to get there faster) you will need to book  in a minimum of three days in advance or you pay 160 Euros a ticket...(about 200 dollars)....or you can make a longer train trip using the RB or regional bahn which is only ok for short distances....the trains go to all these destinations.....you can either call for the best deal or use the machine avaliable at all of the trainstations....and the castle is in ULM not Fussen....anyways.....the best way is to call the bahn itself....if your in the states you will need to first dial 00149 drop the first digit and then the rest of the number.......keep in mind though that to call the deutsche bahn it cost 50 cents (euros) per minute plus your country rate.....or if you want I can give you all the details by telling via Email if you let me know the dates and stuff and email them to you....just to help out a little...oh and i am married with two kids and living in germany for about 12 years now....I know what you think but its really great here and its like the states but with very little crime.....oh and welcome....when you get here.

Congratulation on finding the Bayern-Ticket on the website. I personally found it very difficult to find, the first time I needed it.

You should be able to find the trains you can take to get you where you want if you open the English side and than under "connections", in the field "means of transport" scroll down to "Without ICE/IC/EC" and select that. Enter the date and stuff and see what they come up with. It might seem like you need to book the ticket there, but you don't have to, even if they tell you the only way to search for a return connection is by clicking on the "Booking" button, you won't be asked for your payment details, but get a second "Search" side to look for a connection, so don't let that frighten you.

Oh, and there is the "Dauer-Spezial" of the DB. A small contingent of tickets for every connection in Germany for just 29€ (w/o return!). I would recommend that for your trip to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, since it's a little way from Munich, and it will give you much more time for Rothenburg. The catch: YOu will need to book that at least three (work)days in advance and you must take the specific train you booked. But especially if you have a lot of luggage to cary around, i would recommend looking into it. You'll need to be fast, because the contingents are very small.

You wont be able to go to salzburg with the bayern-ticket, but I guess you knew that. There should be a special offer from Munich to Salzburg. At least I saw one on the German website last time I was on there. No guarantees on that one.

But yes, you should be able to go everywhere in bavaria with the bayern-ticket.

The easy answer

rent a car with a navigation system. Unless you have oodles of time, it is much more convenient and you see more of the country. You can go almost anywhere in Germany with public transport, it aint easy to figure out and very little of the system is in english.
