I am about to go bow hunting for my first time, this year and hunt for deer. I have been shooting my bow for the past few months now and im getting just about where i think im comfortable with my bow. I am looking for any tips and so on that people can give me that might make me better on the first day out. I have been reading up, I hink i am going to go with a blind instead of a stand. Any tips, hints, or a little bit of old wisdom would be great!! thx!!

  1. concentrate and make sure ur finger is behind the release so that u don't shoot on accident other then that...good hunting and good luck

  2. 2 tips....concentrate on your breathing and if you are aiming downhill, aim a few inches low as your point of impact will rise.  Good luck.

  3. Here's some tips that I have used. Pull your bow back and hold it as long as you can, then count on it being even longer than that when you might have a chance to draw back on your deer. You are going to be nervous with your heart beating out of your chest. Another thing it might be cold. If you have trouble holding your draw for any length of time you might consider backing it off a couple of pounds then don't forget to sight in your bow. Shoot your bow with your outerware on so you are used to it also.

You might want to sit in your blind and shoot your bow again, sitting down is a different experience than standing.

If you will be shooting downward a bit, remember to shoot just a tad low. Deers will duck down almost always at the sound of a arrow leaving the bow. Plus it will allow slightly for the angle that you are shooting or you may shoot over the deers back.

Make sure the pins on your sight (assuming you have a "pinned" sight) are all set correctly yardage wise.

If you are staying on the ground, this is kinda a duh thing, but be sure that you de-scent thoroughly. Hang your clothes, jacket and socks outside after washing with scent free detergent. The blind will help some with containing scent too.

Make sure your broadheads are well seated in your arrows.

Those are some I can think of right now, hope it helps and much good luck to you. :o)

  4. Well, it's already been hit right on the head, the only thing I can add is - exhale as you draw and continue to let out about half of your drawn breath until you release, then release the rest of you breath, also don't "pull" when you loose. Other than that, have fun and bee safe!
