  1. macy's is a must for shopping. You will love it!!!!

  2. Here are some top tips

1.Take the Staten island ferry ,It's free, yes free and it goes right past the Statue of Liberty .

    2. Go to Century 21 it's a department store near Ground zero,Designer gear and fantastic prices ,there are some times street hawkers outside selling copies for the same price as you can get the real thing inside .

3.Use the subway $2 per jorney each if you miss your stop you can get on another train and go back with out paying any extra, the map seeems complicated at first but it's not that bad.

4.Don't buy your suveneers from the actual places get them from the shops in Little China or from the h***s Kitchen area where they are more reasonably priced.

5 If you are going to see a Broadway show ,go to the ticket boothe under the Marriot on Times square when it opens (sorry slighly vaigue) for 50% discount tickets ( these are proper tickets for decent seats ) I got front row for half the price of those at the back.

6.Go to Joe's dinner in Brooklyn for a good meal and fantastic cheesecake.

    7. Grayline buses run a great sevice you can choose from 48 hours all loops witch means you can hop on and off any where on there circuit for 48 hours ijncluding the nighttime tour or you can go for the three day all inclusive tour which we thought would have been a bit to much .There operatives gave us some realy good local hint and tips.

You should definately buy your tickets there .

The fitz patrick is a good walk from broadway if you want to experience the buzz of the city otherwise the tube won't be far away.

  3. I use www.broadwaybox.com.... You can buy Broadway and off-Broadway tickets here and a lot of them at 50% off. The tickets are 100% guaranteed too, I've never had a problem using tickets bought through here. You can read the story of how the website got started selling discount tickets for shows on their website. The theaters arent far, just take the subway or a cab! (subway is much cheaper then cabs...)

  4. Most of the theaters are in the west forties within a block or so of Broadway and no more than a mile from your hotel.  It is an easy walk.

For tickets, if you are open as to what show to see, you can save a substantial amount by going to the TKTS booth at 47th and B'way on the day of the show.  This will work better on weekdays than on the weekend days.  You may see along line at the booth because people line up well before it opens at 11:00 am to get best choice.

Macy's is famous, on 34th and sixth.  Bloomoingdales is straight up lexington at 59th street.  There are a lot of designers and high end shops along 57th st and on fifth ave,  H&M is a popular but very reasonably priced store. (Often featured on What Not to Wear) and are located on 34th street near Macy's and on fifth ave by 51st st.

For those so interested there is the NBA store near the 51st st H&M.  Good if you have a mixed crowd; something for bath sexes.  And Niketown on 57th near fifth.  High end jewelers are clustered around 57th and fifth (Tiffany, Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpel's, Harry Winston and Torneau for watches in many price ranges up to unimaginable)

Trendy clothes can be found in the Soho area.  Just take the #6 train downtown from Grand Central to Spring Street.

  5. If your going to New York you should go to Macy's and Bloomingdales. For jewelry you should look at Tiffany's and toys FAO Schwartz

  6. As far as tickets go, it really depends on which show you are going to see. Most of the main ticket vendors (Ticketmaster and such) are pretty safe to go through. Where shopping is concerned... NY is the right place to go. For department shopping stick with downtown Manhattan... but if you want 'deals', go to China town and always stick with street vendors (only if you can bargain and tell a fake from a real Gucci lol)
