Question:

Help, problems with my 3 male cats? (long)?

Hello, I have a 11 year old male cat who is neutered, and I also have 2, 10 month old male kittens (un-neutered). My question is, I've caught my "neutered" male cat spraying and peeing. Now my kittens have picked up on it. They'll go in their litter boxes (which I do keep clean), but they'll also go in random places in our basement, behind things, and in purses, baskets, on curtains, etc. I know I probably need to get them fixed. But my question is, will it fix the pee problem? I just don't understand why my neutered male cat is peeing, will the kittens keep peeing too even after they are fixed?

I am so very afraid that they won't make it through the surgery. What are the chances of them dieing while being fixed? Does it happen often? I almost don't want to risk getting them fixed because I don't want to lose them. I love them! My one kitten follows me everywhere, talks to me, lays on me and drools. He only loves me, he won't go near my husband, he's "my" cat. And my other one is just crazy hilarious, he loves orange juice caps and runs around like a maniac making cute noises. Will fixing them completely change their personalities? Will they still be affectionate with me? Sorry for all the questions! Thanks in advance.

p.s. sometimes they get kind of rough with each other, biting each others necks? is this normal for males? thanks.

  1. first of all ........ the chances of death for a cat during surgery are slim. especially just for the removal of  " the boys "

its time for the 10 month old to be fixed... i would wait for the little guy until he's at least 6 months.. its normal for a cat to spray, but can be stopped. theyre only marking there territory, thats all....

I took two boys (brothers) and didnt have them fixed until they were 10 months old. a little too late if you ask me... they already had the urge to roam the outside. and i had no choice to let them come and go.. sadly, one of my boys was killed in april. he was hit by a car. and the other? he brings me presents daily... uggh... this is not fun cleaning up the mess of dead critters found all over the place. if you love your kitties, its best you get them fixed before the urge for outside comes about.

  2. The older male is marking his territory. Even if a cat is fixed,

sometimes they can still spray. Of course, with the kittens spraying then the older male feels he has to mark also. It's better to have your cats neutered instead of your whole house smelling like urine. There is a slight risk with anesthesia, but the chance of them dying during surgery is very small. Cat neutering is a simple and quick process, so don't worry about losing them. Just have your cats fixed before you will have to move outside to live.
