Help,my a/c unit is not working...the unit kicks on and then the fan, after a couple of mins the unit kiks off

Like i was saying, the unit kicks off after a couple of minutes, but the fgan stays on, and the unit never kicks back on. Can anyone help me????

I would have a professional look at it because this is not supposed to happen.  If you are in the NJ area, try Browns Heating & Cooling for good quality and affordable ac repair.

That could be several things. First I would turn power off of it for 10 minutes and let the unit reset itself. If it doesn't work then contact a proffesional ac repairmen.

try  changing the filter, other than that call an ac technician

The outdoor unit cuts off but the indoor unit keeps a running ? Could be an auto reset high head or low pressure switch in the outdoor unit.It could be the thermostat.It could be a weak contactor coil.It could be a loose connection.It could be a bad time delay in the oudoor unit.

Try to narrow the possibilities down.
